Greetings, Republican Club of Lakeland! My name is James Ring and I’m excited to serve as the 2021 President of the Republican Club of Lakeland. I’m grateful to be joined by some of the finest conservative leaders in central Florida. Serving with me this year will be:
Charles Hardage, Esq. – Vice President
Hardam Tripathi, Esq. – Secretary
Barbara Smith – Treasurer
Understandably, emotions are running high right now. However, we must allow cooler heads to prevail. As the dust begins to settle, let us remember we need each other, now more than ever. As I mentioned during my speech in January, the bridges we’re building today are for those who will come after us. It is imperative that we put aside our differences and work together to face the challenges that lie ahead. Our common bonds and shared interests should serve as a catalyst for unity during these difficult times. Hellen Keller said it best, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
In 2020, President Trump tripled his margin of victory in Florida. His bold leadership and strong economic policies benefited working class Floridians all across the state. Republican candidates in Polk County also won all five legislative races, a county commission race and two congressional races. I’m absolutely inspired by the increased level of voter engagement during this past election. More Americans voted for President Trump this year than in 2016. In Polk County, President Trump received 10,000+ more votes than he did in 2016. People all over the United States and Florida are finally realizing the power of their vote. Let’s build on that momentum and continue working hard to keep Florida red!
We are working on an exciting line-up of guest speakers for this year. Additionally, we’re developing a strategy to build strong partnerships with area Republican clubs, high schools and universities. We will also begin working on updating our club bylaws & constitution. Furthermore, we’re going to re-establish the John Hugh Shannon Memorial Scholarship as an annual scholarship through the Polk Education Foundation to recognize the academic achievements and community involvement of young conservative Polk County students. Please let us know if you have any ideas for speakers or other items you would like to see addressed this year.
Thank you for your involvement and dedication to the Republican Club of Lakeland. Make no mistake, this is your club and we’re here to serve you. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve and excited for what 2021 has to offer. Please don’t hesitate to contact me on my cell at 863-777-0071 with any questions or concerns.
